The Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation Center offers a comprehensive program to help patients who have had a cardiac event or are at risk for cardiovascular disease. The facility is fully equipped to offer a monitored exercise program prescribed by your physician to improve cardiovascular functions. The program also promotes behavior modifications through stress management, dietary changes, and smoking cessation classes. The Starr Regional Diabetes Center promotes positive health and well being to persons with diabetes and their families. In 1999, the Center's self-management education program was awarded recognition from the American Diabetes Association. The award assures the public that the diabetes education program, an essential component of effective diabetes management, meets rigorous ADA standards. The Center Coordinator is a Certified Diabetes Educator committed to teaching the importance of self-care to prevent and minimize complications of the disease. The Diabetes Center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Support Group meets monthly and individual consultation is available upon referral by a physician. Diagnostic Care Center
The Diagnostic Care Center offers several types of scope testing all under the same roof. The variety of testing services and the convenience of the central location enable physicians to provide prompt diagnoses of possible disease conditions. The Center may be contacted by calling (423) 744-3388.

Monthly Community Wellness Program
Starr Regional Medical Center offers programs on health-related issues on the fourth Thursday of each month. A continental breakfast is served and guest speakers include physicians, healthcare providers, and community leaders. The Sleep Lab is the only one of its kind in the region. The Lab focuses on finding problems causing sleep deprivation and helps patients get a better night's sleep. Patients come to the Sleep Lab and follow normal bedtime patterns. Small electrodes are placed on the scalp to measure brain waves and sleep patterns. Patients are monitored throughout the night by a Registered Respiratory Therapist specializing in sleep disorder studies. Physician referral is required. The Emergency Deptartment at Starr Regional Medical Center has been designated a Level III Trauma Center by the TN Board of Health Care Facilities. This designations helps to ensure the optimal level of care for the trauma patient in the most important "first hour" following an injury. Once activated, the trauma team that includes a surgeon/team leader, ER physician, trauma coordinator, nurses, and all ancillary services, is ready to go within 25 minutes of notification.
The Starr Regional Breast Center opened in February of 2009, housing all of the imaging services for women under one roof, including digital mammography. The Senographe Essential Full-field digital mammography system offers superior imagery for a more accurate diagnosis. The actual exam is more comfortable and much faster for the patient with results immediately available to the radiologists for diagnosis.
Kidney Stone Treatment
Starr Regional has installed a lithotripter in the hospital's surgery unit, making kidney stone treatment always available when needed. The lithotripter is the newest technology on the market. It has a rotating head which allows for treatment of stones located in kidneys as well as stones in the lower part of the bladder, previously out of range for the lithotripter. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
SRMC offers the area's fastest, sharpest, and most powerful MRI system available. The state-of-the-art 1.5T High Speed Plus LX Magnet provides images of stunning clarity of even the tiniest details. The MRI system cuts the average length of study times in half of what the older systems require.
Starr Regional offers PET/CT imaging via a mobile unit one day per week. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) in combination with CT scans provides the best diagnostic tool available for many diseases, but most particularly cancer. A PET/CT scan is of the entire body. The PET scan highlights the "hot spots" (areas affected by disease) based on changes in the body's chemistry. This image is fused with a CT structural image enabling the exact location of the tumor or other disease process to be precisely pinpointed, usually long before it could be detected using another imaging modality. Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
Stereotactic breast biopsy offers an alternative biopsy procedure for women who have had questionable mammograms. Unlike open surgical biopsies, this procedure is minimally invasive and requires no stitches. The stereotactic system makes early detection and accurate diagnosis easier.
