New Joint Venture Will Allow Hospital to Further Enhance Patient Care

Athens, Tenn. – Athens Regional Medical Center (ARMC) and The Surgery Center of Athens today announced that they have formed a joint venture to expand outpatient surgical services to the community.

“Athens Regional Medical Center is pleased to join forces with The Surgery Center of Athens to expand our outpatient surgical services,” said John Workman, Chief Executive Officer of ARMC. “By combining our operations and resources, The Surgery Center and ARMC have a great opportunity to improve surgical services across our community and better meet the needs of our patients throughout this region.  ARMC has offered outpatient surgical services at the main hospital for many years.  Through our joint venture with The Surgery Center of Athens, we will be able to enhance the surgical services offered to our community.”

Established in 2002, The Surgery Center of Athens provides patients with quality care in a convenient outpatient setting.  The Center provides a full suite of surgical services including podiatry, ophthalmology, endoscopy, gynecology, ear, nose & throat, orthopedics, pain management, plastic surgery and general surgery.

“We, the physician owners of The Surgery Center of Athens, have built a high quality Outpatient Surgical Facility in this community,” said Preston Brown, M.D., Medical Director of The Surgery Center of Athens. “With the changes in healthcare and our commitment to our patients in mind, we feel joining forces with ARMC will provide the opportunity for us to work together as a team to provide quality healthcare to the patients in this area. This should prove to be a mutually beneficial joint venture for patients and physicians in our community."
