Jonathan Moore, RN, CCCC, has earned special certification as a cardiovascular care coordinator from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. The SCPC, formerly Society of Chest Pain Centers, awards certification to cardiac healthcare professionals who successfully complete the cardiovascular care coordinator certification boot camp.

“Jonathan quickly became an integral part of the Chest Pain team as we embarked on the special designation by the SCPC,” stated Neal Johns, RN, Director of Starr Regional’s Emergency Department. “This special certification reinforces Jonathan’s commitment to the betterment of cardiac care in our region.”

Moore has worked for Starr Regional Medical Center for five years in the Emergency Department, and was most recently promoted to the Clinical Coordinator of the Chest Pain Center.

“Heart attacks remain a leading cause of death, not just in Southeast Tennessee, but across the nation,” Moore said. “Knowing the warning signs and taking quick action not only saves valuable heart muscle, but could also save your life.”

The Chest Pain Center at Starr Regional engaged in a rigorous evaluation by SCPC for its ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients who may be experiencing a heart attack to earn their designation. Patients at Starr now receive state-of-the-art care during that critical window of time that can make a difference in their outcome.

Dr. Stephen Marietta, staff cardiologist with Starr Regional recently praised the Chest Pain Center team, under Moore’s leadership, as one of the best in the East Tennessee region for the prompt, professional treatment of patients who enter through the Emergency Room.

Starr Regional Medical Center is a comprehensive medical center with locations in Athens and Etowah, Tenn. The two campus system allows Starr Regional to offer more services and share resources to further the mission of making communities healthier.
