Remembering Durant Tullock
September 28, 2021
Durant Tullock was an amazing individual with a great love for his hometown, its people and its history. He was a tireless advocate for Etowah and for Starr Regional Medical Center.
Durant joined the Board of Trustees at Woods Memorial Hospital as chairman when it became part of LifePoint Health in July 2012. He joined the consolidated Athens-Etowah Board on December 1, 2013. He served as vice chairman from 2013 until 2019, when he was selected as chairman by unanimous vote of the other members.
A true public servant, Durant worked for the betterment of his community – from cleaning up the city’s sidewalks to promoting its many assets, including our hospitals, and ensuring the town’s treasures were both available and preserved for all generations to enjoy.
His positivity and contagious smile forever will be missed, but the impact Durant made on our hospital and the lives of those who work here will be celebrated for years to come. We extend our deepest sympathies to his wife – Sandra, children, father – Doug, and the entire Tullock family.
With sincere appreciation for a life of service well lived,
Your family and friends at Starr Regional Medical Center
