Starr Regional Medical Center welcomes Maurice Alston, DO, FACC, and Selcuk Tombul, DO, FACC

Starr Regional Medical Center has announced that Maurice Alston, DO, FACC, and Selcuk Tombul, DO, FACC, have joined its staff and are offering cardiovascular services to patients in McMinn County and the surrounding region.

“We are excited to have Dr. Alston and Dr. Tombul in Athens to practice at Starr Cardiology Associates,” said John McLain, chief executive officer of Starr Regional Medical Center. “They are both skilled cardiologists and talented clinicians with a passion for treating a wide range of cardiovascular conditions and providing advanced care in our community. This is important as Starr Regional Medical Center works to expand the services our community needs most.”

Dr. Alston, an interventional cardiologist, specializes in minimally invasive techniques for coronary artery revascularization; peripheral vascular disease evaluation and management; treatment of venothromboembolism (PE/DVT) with mechanical thrombectomy; management and treatment of comorbidities for cardiovascular disease; and management of congestive heart failure. He completed an internal medicine residency and cardiovascular fellowship at OhioHealth Medical System, Doctors Hospital, in Columbus, Ohio, as well as an interventional cardiology fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and serves as a member of the Credentialing and Membership Services Committee for the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Tombul, a cardiologist, diagnoses and treats all aspects of cardiovascular diseases and venous disorders with a special interest and expertise in congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, circulatory disorders, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. He specializes in consultative cardiology, echocardiography, TEE, vascular ultrasound, stress testing, nuclear cardiology, permanent pacemaker implantation, cardiac catheterization and cardiology critical care management. Tombul completed his cardiology fellowship at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. He continued his medical training at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals, also in Richmond.
