Flu Shot Fundraiser benefits Friendly Fellow Club’s Christmas Basket Program
October 15, 2025
Starr Regional Medical Center is providing flu shots as a fundraiser for the annual Friendly Fellow Club’s Christmas Basket Program on Friday, October 24 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Flu shots will be given in the main lobby of Starr Regional Medical Center – Athens. Flu shots are free; but donations are encouraged. All proceeds from the event are used to purchase food for the nearly 500 food baskets distributed to those in need by the Friendly Fellow Club.
“We deeply appreciate Starr Regional Medical Center’s ongoing support of the Friendly Fellow Club’s annual Christmas basket program through their flu shot fundraiser,” said Friendly Fellow Club member Ross Dodson. “It’s a meaningful way to stay healthy during flu season while also helping families in need. Contributions from generous organizations like Starr Regional and caring individuals in our community are essential to keeping our tradition alive—delivering baskets of food to numerous families each Christmas.”
Flu shots are available to anyone age 18 and older; parents are encouraged to take their children to a pediatrician to receive a flu shot. If you are unable to walk into the lobby, a nurse will be available to administer the shot to you in your vehicle. Simply have a family member enter the lobby and request a nurse to come to the vehicle.
“Getting vaccinated against the flu each year is one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and those around you,” said Amber Bain, LPN, CPR Coordinator at Starr Regional Medical Center and co-coordinator of the event. “We invite our community to participate in this event—not only to reduce their risk of flu, but also to support neighbors in need during the holiday season.”
