Visitor Welcome Video
Loved Ones are Welcome Again
It’s been a hard year. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our community has faced a number of new challenges as we have worked to protect each other’s health and well-being. Perhaps one of the biggest of those challenges has been separation from others – whether that means forgoing in-person gatherings, grabbing coffee with a friend or visiting a loved one who is receiving care at the hospital.
As we come closer than ever to putting the pandemic behind us, we are pleased to announce that our visitation restrictions are relaxing, and loved ones are welcome again. We know that it has been difficult to be apart from family and friends who are receiving care, and we want to thank you for your patience and understanding while restrictions were in place to protect the health of our patients and staff.
We are so pleased to welcome our patients’ loved ones back to the hospital to visit. Our updated visitor policy can be found below.
It’s been a hard year. Let’s make the next one better…together.
Visitor Guidelines for all facilities:
At Starr Regional Medical Center, our top priority is safeguarding the health and wellbeing of our patients, providers, employees and community. We continue to closely monitor the prevalence of coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community and follow state and federal guidance as we adapt our operations to safely care for and support our patients. As current projections continue to indicate lower volumes of COVID-19 in our region, effective April 1, 2021, we are easing our visitor policy as follows:
- General visiting hours will return to the hours of 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.
- The hospital allows for the presence of a support individual of the patient’s choice. The number of visitors may be restricted, depending on the current patient care environment. Children under the age of 12 should refrain from visiting due to infection control issues.
- Visitors and patients will be screened upon entry with a temperature check and will be required to wear a mask at all times while in the facility. Visitors who do not pass the screening at entry will be asked to reschedule their visit until they are symptom-free.
- Visitors are NOT allowed for high-risk, isolation, immunocompromised or respiratory patients who are under observation or test positive for COVID-19.
- The Chapel is open to patients and visitors. We have hand sanitizer stations available, and the room will be cleaned routinely with measures used in other public spaces.
- The cafeteria will reopen to the public on Monday, April 5. To provide a safe environment, hand sanitizing stations are prominently located, masking is required except when eating and everyone is asked to continue practicing social distancing. Families can sit in close proximity to one another.
- Patients and visitors are asked to continue to maintain social distancing in the lobbies and waiting areas.
Starr Regional Health & Rehabilitation (SRHR) and Starr Regional’s Senior Care program continue to have separate visitation policies in place to protect the vulnerable populations they serve. Thank you for your continued understanding and cooperation as we work to maintain a safe environment for our patients and team.
